Humboldt and Mendocino Redwood Company lands account for approximately 440,000 acres of redwood and Douglas fir timberlands along the north coast of California. Both MRC and HRC were formed with the idea that it is possible to manage productive timberlands with a high standard of environmental stewardship and also operate a successful business.

MRC is a supplier of lumber products to The Home Depot. MRC sustainably manages the entire forest to grow timber for sale as lumber while looking after plants and animals, rivers and soil.  MRC uses selective harvesting to encourage forest diversity.  Each year, on MRC’s 228,000 acres, any tree harvested is fully utilized in sustainable products and more trees remain growing in the forest.

Ever wonder what happens to a tree that is harvested for lumber, and how much of it actually gets used? Read the full story to find out.
