Water has been the driving force behind 80 years of innovation at Moen.
As the number one faucet brand in North America, the company has always believed its job is not just to make faucets but to elevate people’s experiences with water. That belief now drives one of the most ambitious water conservation commitments in the industry.
Mission Moen: A Commitment to Water
In 2020, Moen launched Mission Moen, a company-wide commitment built around two bold goals for 2030. Together, those goals reflect Moen’s conviction that protecting water and improving how people experience it are not competing priorities.
Goal 1: Save One Trillion Gallons of Water by 2030
Moen aims to help consumers save one trillion gallons of water while helping them enjoy it even more. The company is pursuing this through smart water products designed to work inside and outside the home.
Indoors, the Moen Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff can detect leaks as small as a drop per minute, even behind walls where problems often go unnoticed until they become costly. By catching and addressing leaks early, homeowners can save up to 9,000 gallons of water a year.
Outside, the opportunity is just as significant. Outdoor irrigation is one of the largest sources of water consumption in the home and Moen’s smart outdoor products are built to help homeowners use that water more wisely. The Moen Smart Sprinkler Controller paired with the Wireless Soil Sensor takes the guesswork out of watering by responding to real soil conditions rather than a fixed schedule. Together, they can help homeowners reduce outdoor water use by 30% or more.

Goal 2: Repurpose 2,000 Tons of Ocean-Recycled Plastics by 2030
This goal addresses the growing problem of plastic in the world’s oceans. Oceans absorb approximately 11 million metric tons of plastic each year, and a significant portion comes from discarded fishing nets. Moen is working to capture and repurpose those used fishing nets for use in its packaging and product components, turning a persistent environmental problem into a material resource.
Progress That Speaks for Itself
Since Mission Moen launched in 2020, Moen estimates that its products sold through The Home Depot have helped save over 47 billion gallons of water. In that same period, Moen has repurposed over 106,000 pounds of ocean-recycled plastic through product and packaging innovations, and that is just through its Home Depot partnership alone.
Those numbers reflect real, measurable progress toward goals that matter and fuel Moen’s optimism about reaching its 2030 targets and setting new ones beyond them.
A Shared Commitment
Moen’s approach to sustainability is grounded in the idea that conservation and experience should reinforce each other, not trade off against each other. Through smart technology, responsible materials and ambitious long-term goals, Moen is demonstrating what it looks like to build a water-positive future.
Working alongside The Home Depot, Moen is helping homeowners take meaningful action on water conservation every day, one product at a time.
