The Home Depot has been honored with three United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) program awards. The EPA is an agency of the U.S. federal government created to protect human health and the environment.

As a result of our stores’ commitment to selling and educating our customers on the energy- and water-conserving products available in our stores and online and our continued supply chain improvements, we were honored to be presented with the following:

1) 2015 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year – We were recognized for our contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through promotion of energy-efficient products. In 2014, our ENERGY STAR-certified products helped our customers save $630 million in utility costs. This savings reduced greenhouse gas emissions by over 3.6 million metric tons in 2014.

2) 2015 SmartWay Excellence Award – We are proud to serve as an industry leader in freight supply chain environmental performance and energy efficiency. The Home Depot demonstrated top environmental performance by effectively hauling all freight with environmentally and energy-efficient SmartWay carriers.

3) 2015 WaterSense® Sustained Excellence Award – We were honored for the third consecutive year for our commitment to water efficiency and education as we continue to help build consumer awareness about WaterSense-approved products. The Home Depot helped consumers save 47.8 billion gallons of water in 2014 and $403 million in water utility costs.

We continue to strive for excellent environmental performance, and one of the key ways we accomplish this is to help our customers save energy, water and money through our partnership with the EPA’s ENERGY STAR, WaterSense and SmartWay programs.
