Fibrex®: Turning Waste into a Building Material
Perhaps the most distinctive example of Andersen’s commitment to circularity is Fibrex, a composite material the company invented and uses as a structural component across several of its product lines.
Approximately 40% of Fibrex is wood fiber. Since the material’s development, Andersen’s reuse of that wood fiber has prevented the harvesting of more than 130 million board feet of lumber. That is a significant contribution to sustainable forestry, driven by a material that was engineered with resource conservation in mind.
